Talking My Way Into Business – Part 4
Ok so I’ve actually had a response from one of my business wanted ads on businessesforsale.com! I’ve attached the emails below:
Email 1 (them to me)
BusinessesForSale.com is dedicated to helping you find and buy the right business.
Your Business Wanted message has received the following response:
We are about to acquire such a business so please provide more detail of what you are looking to do
Email 2 (me to them)
Can you tell me a bit more about the business you are considering buying? I know a lot about maximising ecommerce profits and I think I could help you get the most out of this business.
Email 3 (them to me)
Can’t say too much as it is under a confidentiality agreement.
However, the business is retail e-commerce, established many many years, turnover £3M with a VERY small profit.
We seek to buy 3 or 4 similar businesses to Group.
We are going to need someone to run the whole operation at Director level as it is a retirement sale and we are purely investors via our offshore trust, having nothing to do with the management of these businesses.
Hence your advert suggesting partnership / shareholding was interesting.
We are NOT seeking to employ someone who will not be involved as we already have IT people.
Email 4 (me to them)
I understand you wish to group the retail e-commerce companies, are your intentions to keep the separate websites or to combine them? Combining them may result in a significant loss in turnover. Also the problem with IT guys is they tend to be focused on technical issues, not business ones, Internet marketing is a highly specialised area that requires both technical skill and business acumen.
I am not looking to invest in any businesses or to be employed, but I am looking for a profit sharing opportunity in return for maximising the profit returned from your ecommerce business. Would you be able to let me know whether it is B2C or B2B (I am guessing B2C) and possibly what industry/product?
