SEO, The Deanery and Dave

January 14th, 2009 Categories: Uncategorized

Ok so I’ve abandoned my previous attempt, I decided it was about time I got a job because:

a) Having no money really sucks!
b) I get too distracted by my Xbox 360 (which incidentally broke recently, suddenly I go on a job search)!
c) I’m not really having much success
Anyways, so the other day I was asked to do a new site for the Deanery, which I decided to do in Joomla – I bought myself a nice looking template to use.
Fortunately, even more good fortune has come my way!  My mum was chatting to Dave Naylor (type in: uk seo in Google and he comes up top!) and he offered to give us some advice on improving our web presence.  So I popped down to see him after I woke up (pre 12am!) and I spent the next 6 hours talking to Dave about SEO and how to improve the Deanery website etc.
It was a very interesting meeting and I learned a lot.  So now I’m hoping to get the Deanery “up there” for some keyphrases.  I believe my main challenge set is to get page 1 for hotels in Ripon, page 1 (we’re currently on rank 71 on page 8) for Deanery (sounds easy that one, but have you ANY idea how many domain names the church has with the word Deanery in it?!?!?! Currently rank 18) and as far as I can tell the other one was rank 3 for Ripon Hotel (currently rank 9).
So watch this space! I’ll let you know how I get on.
