I suddenly had a spike in visitors on this site. What concerned me is that it was from businessesforsale.com! Immediately I began to panic, thinking someone was selling a business in my name. But no, it turns out that my article £30 won’t buy you a business was found by businessesforsale.com and categorised as a news site, check it out here.

So another cheque has arrived for my book, ths one was for $85.54, after all the exchange rate charges, this came to £56.78.

So add that to my current balance of £23.06 makes £79.84

Well I’ve got myself a domain name :)

Thought I better bagsie it now before someone else does – £9.99 for 2 years (not bad I reckon).  So now I am down to £23.06.
At the moment I am waiting on:
- My cheques from Createspace
- Venetian masks content
I still want to do a big mail out, I’m currently reading a book on Copywriting – I’ve also ordered a book by Seth Godin on permission marketing…

Yes I have made my first purchase with my hard earned cash! (I cashed my first cheque today)

venetian-masks.net
Yup I’m hitting the venetian masks market – bit of a niche huh?  I thought I’d start with something easy to practice my SEO skills.  I didn’t think I could find an affilliate product for this – but low and behold I have!!!  I’m also going to put AdSense on it too.
Wish me luck!

So my first cheque has arrived – woop woop!

The amount is for $72.38
I can’t really buy much with that, so I’ve decided to invest it and use my “skills” to make the investment grow.
My idea is to:
1. Choose an topic to create a website about
2. Find an affiliate product to promote
3. Research a keyword I want to rank for – has to be highly competitive in PPC – for AdSense
4. Create the site
5. Promote the site
6. Eventually get it to earn at least £85 per month
7. After 3 months of it earning £85 I’m going to sell it for £1,000 and go on to the next stage of Inventive Millionaire!
Lets see if it will work…

So I created myself a Facebook ad campaign, hoping to bring in more buyers for my book.  Unfortunately it was a big disaster – my CTR was 0.17%!!!  I got one click in total, I doubted that I would get a good conversion rate so I axed the campaign.  So now my total is down $0.43.

Old Balance: £3.84
Amount Spent: $0.43 = £0.30
New Balance: £3.54

Well it turns out someone bought something from Lulu, so they sent me my money! £3.84!

I’m still waiting for a few more weeks to request my cheque from CreateSpace – as I’m being charged $8.

I’ve realised I have slightly cheated on this whole concept, so I’m going to explain myself and also show why I can justify it.

When writing the book I had a number of costs:
  1. I had to pay to get my proof copy of my book printed and delivered to me in the UK – this was around $40.  I realise this means I’m shelling out money I’ve haven’t made from the web – but I could have made this from signing up to credit cards through the affiliate deal I mentioned earlier – I didn’t want to because I couldn’t be bothered with the hassle.  So I have decided I am going to take the cost of this off my current total of $131.60, to make $90.
  2. This cost is slightly unfair: I had to get a copy of my passport notorised in order to send to the US government to get a US tax ID.  I’m not sure if the notorisation of the passport cost anything – my parents got it done through their lawyer (notories are had to come by) , but they never actually asked me for any money, I’m not sure if he charged them either as they had quite a big deal going through at the time.  I’ll keep you posted if I find out if it did cost anything.  This however isn’t really a cost if you live in the US or if you decide to use a print on demand publisher in your own country.
So in theory at the moment I have $90 to spend.  I think this should be enough to get me going, but I’m going to be have to be absolutely sure on the money making affiliate scheme I make up as I have no room for error – I can’t afford to test market as $90 is all I have!
